Write a summary of the explorer you researched, putting the information in the following order:

  • Small photo of explorer from Wikipedia or a public domain website
  • Name of explorer
  • Years lived
  • Country of origin
  • Areas explored
  • Claim to Fame (why he's famous)
  • One or two web links you used in your research

When you add the information for your explorer, be sure to add the information for your explorer so that the explorers will be chronological order.  Remember, in a wiki, you can click your mouse and put your cursor where you want to add your information.

Example:

Marco PoloLived from 1254 - 1325; Italy (Venice); Traveled east from Europe to Kaifeng, the capital of the Kublai Khan's Mongol Empire.  The Great Khan conscripted Marco Polo into service for the Empire. where he served in several high-level government positions, including as ambassador and as the governor of the city of Yangzhou. Marco Polo, his father, and his uncle left the Empire in 1292 with a princess, a fleet of fourteen large boats, and 600 other passengers from a port in southern China. The armada sailed through Indonesia to Sri Lanka and India and onto its final destination at the Strait of Hormuz in the Persian Gulf.  Then they returned to Venice where they joined the army to fight against Genoa.  During this battle, Marco Polo was captured and put in jail.  That's where he wrote his book, The Travels of Marco Polo.  Many scholars believe Marco Polo didn't really travel to all the places he tells about in the book, but described what other travelers told him.  His book, though, had great influence on geographic exploration and he was also a major influence on Christopher Columbus. Columbus owned a copy of Travels and made annotations in the margins. Map of Marco Polo's "travels"; Marco Polo homepage

Marco Polo-lived in the years of 1254-1325, and was born in Venice, Italy.  He traveled from Italy to Asia on the Silk Road.  He is famous for traveling on the silk road and claiming gold and spices for the country of Italy.
